Scholarship Funding

The Yukon Law Foundation manages a fund for scholarships that is made available for law or law-related studies. Disbursement of scholarships will be dependent on the applications received.

The criteria are as follows:

  • Academic achievement,
  • Residency,
  • Community involvement, and
  • Financial need.

For more information on the Yukon Law Foundation, please refer to Part 5 of the Legal Profession Act.

All scholarship recipients will be required to sign a Return and Repayment Agreement (Letter of Understanding). This agreement requires students who do not return to the Yukon to work for at least a two-year period to repay the scholarship money issued to them.

THE DEADLINE FOR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS IS 3:00 P.M. ON AUGUST 31 EACH YEAR. SIX HARD COPIES PLUS ORIGINAL ARE TO BE RECEIVED BY THE DEADLINE OR YOUR APPLICATION WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED DURING THE CURRENT SCHOLARSHIP SESSION. Please keep this in mind when sending your applications through the mail. An electronic copy by email is also appreciated.

The Law Society of Yukon has kindly agreed to accept hand-delivered items for the Law Foundation at their new Whitehorse office, Suite 304 - 104 Elliott Street (Dakwakada Bldg). If, for convenience, you choose this option of delivery, it is recommended that you confirm in advance Law Society office hours to ensure your delivery is received prior to the Law Foundation deadline.
